Bio

Brianna Light-Adkins graduated from West Virginia University College of Law. She is passionate about family law and is committed to zealous, compassionate advocacy for all clients she encounters. Brianna is extremely excited to begin representing the people of North Carolina in family law matters.

Originally from West Virginia, Brianna attended Marshall University where she received her bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. During her time in college, Brianna enjoyed giving back to her community through organizations such as the United Way, March of Dimes, and Boys & Girls Club.

After completing her bachelor's degree, Brianna attended the West Virginia University College of Law where she earned her Juris Doctor. The highlight of Brianna's time in law school was her participation in the WVU Child & Family Advocacy Clinic. As a member of the Clinic, Brianna has the opportunity to represent clients and provide the guidance necessary to help them navigate the processes of family court. Additionally, she represented children as a court-appointed Guardian Ad Litem, ensuring the best interests of the child were fairly represented. In her final year of law school, Brianna had the opportunity to clerk for the Honorable Thomas S. Kleeh in the Northern District of West Virginia where she gained invaluable experience in United States Federal Courts.

Brianna served as a student editor of WVU Law’s Family Law Journal where she compiled and researched family law statutes and cases throughout the country, gaining her important knowledge of current case law. Brianna was a member of WVU’s Women’s Leadership Council, Student Bar Association, and Public Interest Advocates.

As a child of divorce, Brianna has a unique perspective and understanding of how difficult the family law process can be. Brianna is committed to being open, understanding, and compassionate with those who she comes in contact with as she understands the stress this process can bring.
